MySQL CHARACTER_LENGTH() Function

Return the length of the string:

SELECT CHARACTER_LENGTH("SQL Tutorial") AS LengthOfString;

Definition and Usage

The CHARACTER_LENGTH() function return the length of a string (in characters).

Note: This function is equal to the CHAR_LENGTH() function.
