Description

The Math.atanh() method returns the hyperbolic arctangent of a number.

The Math.atanh() method expects a number between -1 and 1.

The Math.atanh() method returns Infinity if the number is 1.

The Math.atanh() method returns -Infinity if the number is -1.



Syntax

Math.atanh(x)

Parameters

Parameter Description
x Required.
A number.

Return Value

Type Description
NumberThe hyperbolic arctangent of the number.
Or NaN, or Infinity, or -Infinity.
NaN if the number is greater than 1, or less than -1.


Browser Support

Math.atanh() is an ECMAScript6 (ES6) feature.

ES6 (JavaScript 2015) is supported in all modern browsers since June 2017:
